TINY PLANE
I took this photo from the front step of my apartment in Harlem. I'm assuming this flight originated from LGA, which is only a few miles east. I used my Canon 60D and my NEW 70-300mm EF Ultrasonic lens using the Image Stabilizer.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: BEAUTIFUL BOYS (& GIRLS) OF BROADWAY
On Thursday February 21, Ben Cameron presented Broadway Sessions - Beautiful Boys of Broadway featuring Will Taylor (A Chorus Line, La Cage Aux Folles), Frankie James Grande (Mamma Mia!), Jake Boyd (Rock of Ages, Carrie), and (my roommate) Alex Quiroga (Wicked, Taboo).
Up-and-comer Zurin Villanueva, looking absolutely flawless in a bright red crop-top and pleated black leather mini-skirt, was also on hand to kick of the evening.
The battle of the sexes hit fever pitch when Frankie James Grande invited his little sister, Ariana Grande (www.arianagrande.info), on-stage for a incestuous version of "Suddenly Seymour/Frankie" that actually turned out to be very cute.
However, when Cameron invited the younger Grande to remain in the spotlight for one more song, Whitney Houston's immortal classic "I Have Nothing", she completely won the audience over, proving perhaps that this 'boys' night out was really all about the girls after all.
Broadway Sessions Presenter and Host, Ben Cameron (L) asks Wicked's Alex Quiroga (R) five of the evening's 20 questions. |
Zurin Villanueva starts the show with her killer versions of "Wizard and I" and "No Good Deed" from Wicked. |

AMERICAN ON VINE
After the initial buzz surrounding the launch peaked a few weeks back, I recently downloaded the Vine app for my iPhone 4GS, and quickly became obsessed with the new realm of creating / sharing six second clips in the same manner that I fell in love with Instagram (and twitter... and facebook... and blogging for that matter).
In a world where it seems like there is a new social media app-of-the-moment every few months, most people are resistant to adopting yet another platform into their already robust portfolios. So it begs the question, why bother with one more icon on your already cluttered home screen? For me, whether I'm acting as a photographer, copy writer, video director or editor-- or when I'm concepting marketing campaigns, the answer is simple:
I like telling stories.
Each channel lets me tell different kinds of stories. I love Vine because it's inspired me to look at things from a fresh perspective, and has unlocked a deeper form of narrative storytelling unseen in other social media sharing apps. A find myself searching for a completely different type of subject: telegenic opposed to photogenic, unexpected tableaux of motion.
The user interface and flow is also really nice. I like being able to control the "takes" and "shots" within each six second clip. It's already impressive to see the wide diversity of styles and results generated by the relatively small group of initial users. Hopefully, we'll continue see the community and stream of awesome content grow as more and more users join the network (which technically is run by and a part of twitter).
GET ON VINE.

BLOWN AWAY
Last night Carrie Underwood OWNED her performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards, presented live at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Beyond her gorgeous voice, awesome song writing, and general beauty... she pushed the technological envelope with her innovative costume choice.
This super cool concept utilized projection mapping to activate the billowing skirt of her platinum colored Theia ball gown which was also adorned with thousands of reflective Swarovski crystals. Gorge.

UPDATE: Things Get K-K-Kinky On Broadway
File this under "WTF Were They Thinking" :
Kinky Boots, the new musical from Cindi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein based on the 2005 indie film, recently moved into it's home on the great white way at the Al Hirschfeld theater on West 45th Street. Producers were quick to decorate the theater's facade with the show's marketing, but perhaps they were a little too quick.
The show's branding is really cute-- the letter "K" formed by two knee-high booted legs. However, no one seemed to realize that the iconic logo created a different message all together. When they wrapped these large columns, didn't anyone catch the giant "K-K-K" ?????
#inapproriate
Broadwayworld featured the show in their "Up On the Marquee" column, but were kind enough to leave this questionable shot out.
UPDATE: Apparently, the producers came to their senses. The day after I originally posted this, a change was made to the center column, eliminating the cultural faux pas.

THE POSTAL SERVICE
This headline almost just gave me a heart attack....
Then I realized it was about the US Postal Service, and NOT my favorite British girl group.
Thank god.

XTINA LIVE AT THE 2012 AMA's
Legendary Latin Diva Gloria Estefan was tasked with introducing Legs 'n' Dairy Latin Deeeva Christina Auguilera on the 40th Annual American Music Awards last week.
XTINA looks and sounds amazing/impressive, but let's be honest she's been churning this out since she was six years old. She doesn't even look like she's trying, rather that all this insanity is just another day at the office. However, this is a totally different girl than the one we get on The Voice.
I'm digging the hair & make-up, and loving the star-encrusted corset courtesy of The Blonds:
