XTINA LIVE AT THE 2012 AMA's

Legendary Latin Diva Gloria Estefan was tasked with introducing Legs 'n' Dairy Latin Deeeva Christina Auguilera on the 40th Annual American Music Awards last week.

XTINA looks and sounds amazing/impressive, but let's be honest she's been churning this out since she was six years old. She doesn't even look like she's trying, rather that all this insanity is just another day at the office. However, this is a totally different girl than the one we get on The Voice.

I'm digging the hair & make-up, and loving the star-encrusted corset courtesy of The Blonds:

OPENING 007: the Skyfall Opening Sequence

Dissecting the intricately beautiful opening sequence of SKYFALL, the latest blockbuster in the James Bond legacy, is a heady task. First hurdle is the length. Director Sam Mendes dedicated over 3 minutes and 55 seconds of his film to the sequence, and designer Daniel Kleinman clearly had no trouble filling every frame with richly layered compositions hinting toward the movies key themes and elements.

I love the gorgeous segue from the Prologue into the Opening Sequence! As Bond (Daniel Craig) crashes below the water's surface, we shift from the reality of the main story into his psyche. Our hero plummets into his dark, watery grave as finely manicured, female fingers grip his collar pulling him deeper into his own demise.

Minnie, the Fashionista

Disney and Barney's are plugging in for "Electric Holiday" a short film highlighting the season's biggest fashion trends and celebrating some very notable figures (Linda Evangelista, Daphne Guinness, Naomi Campbell, and Lady Gaga... just to name a few).

The stylish video gives us a glimpse into Minnie Mouse's ultimate fashion fantasy as she strolls the streets of Paris, walks the Lanvin Runway, and hob-knobs with all the beautiful people.

CUT IT OUT

Pop diva superstar Rihanna is currently on a record-setting world tour, visiting 7 countries, doing 7 shows in 7 days.

She has invited 150 of her closest friends, fans, and photogs to join her as they travel in style aboard a private 777 jumbo jet.

Yesterday, she posted this pic on instagram featuring the fabulous face of drag royalty, RuPaul.... or at least a cardboard cut-out of the Glamazon.

This of course totally made me think of another great cardboard cut-out, RIRI herself! Logan Keslar was lucky enough to score this life-sized replica of the singer while shopping at a drugstore in Detroit. Looks like Rihanna just loves posing for pics.

That's So Gay

All-time hottie (and gay icon) Brad Pitt is putting his money where is mouth is by donating a hefty $100,000.00 to the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC's) National Marriage Fund. The cause is spreading awareness of initiatives in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington in advance of the November 6 vote fighting an amendment which would effectively ban same-sex couples from tying the knot in the state's constitution.

Thanks for the support, Mr. Pitt. This makes you sexier than ever before!

Happy Hitchcock

Yesterday, my boo and I went to see "Dial M for Murder" (1954) in 3D (!!) at the TIFF - Bell Lightbox here in downtown Toronto. Neither of us had actually seen the whole film before, so it was really interesting to watch on the big screen. Grace Kelly's red dress in act one was probably my most-favorite part of the design:

Keeping with the running Hitchcock theme, here's an awesome video project from earlier this year where painstakingly stitched together a stunning panoramic timelapse of "Rear Window"  footage.

Baby, there's a shark in the water

Here's another spooky collage I've been working on in the spirit of Halloween. This one features three iconic moments from the classic thriller JAWS (1975) directed by Steven Spielberg.

BILLY MEETS MADGE

I absolutely LOVE this clip from The Conan O'Brien Show featuring everyone's favorite pedestrian lunatic Billy Eichner for a few reasons:

- He quiz's everyday New Yorkers about the upcoming election.... and the upcoming fall tv line up.
- When the crazy lady makes the inadvertent Jon Benet Ramsay reference at 3:05
- I agree with Billy that Honey Boo Boo is a TOTAL escape.
- The fierce New York City attitute at 3:54
- Yankee Stadium is like a stone's throw from my apt in Harlem.
- Billy gets on-stage during rehearsal to MEET MADONNA during sound-check.
- "Vogue, Mother Fuckers!"
- All the awesome, behind-the-scenes shots of the totally awesome staging by Tait
- Rocco's cameo
- "Love you in Dick Tracy!"
- How generally excited he is to meet Madonna.

DAMMNIT, JANET!

In the spirit a rapidly approaching Halloween, I proudly present my latest digital collage featuring elements from Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1960 thriller "Psycho". I used three main shots: a) a wide-shot of the famous home Norman shared with his mother behind The Bates Motel as it sat on the Universal Studios Backlot during filming; and b) two shots of the stunning Janet Leigh at various stages of her downfall.

Enjoy!

TWO OF M'FAVORITE THINGS

"Interview With a Honey Boo Boo"

M'favorite cubby, pre-teen, reality show, superstar has been re-imaginged as bratty Claudia from my favorite vampire movie of all time "Interview With a Vampire. The classic flick is a must-see featuring a killer performance by a young, then nearly unknown Kristen Dunst (originally in the role of Claudia).... and two very queeny showings by Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt as the odd-couple Lestat and Louis (respectively).

A younger, hotter Christian Slater rounds out the cast -- which ain't too hard on the eyes either.

Sugar Goes to Her Head

Honey Boo Boo got her snack on while traipsing around Los Angeles this week. Inside Edition caught this awesome shot of her sticking her towhead inside the infamous Sprinkles Cupcake ATM Machine.

It also sort of looks like the machine might be giving birth to her. Loves it.

ABOUT 'LAST NIGHT'

The boys from KAZAKY are at it again, writhing around nearly naked in the video for their latest single "Last Night".

Which, as usual, is fine by me.

Love the simple, yet effective mirror image/kaleidoscope effect. And the abs.

TOTALLY TORONTO!

BILL MAHER - NEW RULES - OCTOBER 12, 2012

Ol' Billy Boy really lays it all out there in this awesome NEW RULES segment from October 12, 2012.

"Now look, I know who Focus on the Family is. They're an anti-gay lobbying group disguised as a church... basically the God Hates Fags guys crossed with Bain Capital." said Maher.

In addition to his spot-on social commentary, I also totally LOVE how he points out that Star-trek predicted cellphones and Bluetooth.

"Is there NO penalty anymore for just being wrong? WRONG?"

ALL OF THE LIGHTS --- "Luminous" by Jeward

Twinsy pop duo Jeward's video for "Luminous" totally surprised me.

Never would have expected it, but I'm actually really into what they are up to here....

SUPERHUMAN

got the title of this youtube video all wrong-- it should read:

RIDICULOUSLY GOOD-LOOKING, GENIUS-STUD WITH A KILLER BODY DOES ONE-HANDED PUSH UPS WHILE SOLVING RUBIK'S CUBE IN 25 SECONDS

I'm mean, seriously. And I totally love how he enters the frame, hits his mark.... then returns to point the camera DIRECTLY at his crotch before he drops on all fours. Really.

Thanks to buzzfeed.com for the eye-candy. Click here for the gifs.

Don't Feed the Plants

The alternate ending to the 1986 cult film "Little Shop of Horrors" based on the Broadway musical (based on the original 1960 movie) is a disaster... in the best way possible.

CHAPLIN: the musical

Had the chance to see an early preview of this new musical thanks to my friend Sunny Naughton at Camp Broadway. Didn't know much about the production going into the show, but was pleasantly surprised by the performance overall. Rob McClure is really, really impressive as the title character-- an iconic persona that we all (even us Millennials) have (at least) some reference on.

If you're into new musical theatre, than I suggest you check it out. If you like spectacle, hi-tech effects, and memorable pop music-- then I suggest you stick with Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

MARILYN

Visiting Logan in Chicago between Christmas and the New Year.

Freezing cold and a long walk led us to this beauty, a 26-foot tall statue of Marilyn Monroe by John Seward Johnson II (born 1930; also known as J. Seward Johnson Jr). The Blonde Bombshell is striking the infamous hot-air-up-the-skirt shot from "The Seven Year Itch" and people line up all day to take pictures of her.

A lot of art people (especially locals) hate it-- but I think it's hilariously perfect.

More detail on the story here.
